Ilorin - A cleric, Prophet Theophilous Omolona, on Sunday commended President Goodluck Jonathan for signing the anti-gay law, saying his action had saved Nigeria from facing God’s wrath.
Omolona, of the Israel Celestial Church of Christ (ICCC), Ilorin, spoke in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in the city.
He described same sex marriage as a great sin against God, which would have earned the country 40 years of punishment if it had not been outlawed.
The cleric said that Nigeria was still bearing the pains of hosting FESTAC 77, which amounted to promoting idolatry.
According to him, the country will only recover from some negative effects of the hosting after 40 years in 2017.
“God revealed to me that President Jonathan is a God-chosen Nigerian Messiah being used to prevent the country from slipping back into the second round of 40 years punishment by signing the anti-gay bill,” he said.
Omolona quoted Leviticus 20:13 to prove God’s disapproval of gay practises and same sex marriage.
“If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads,” he said.
The cleric condemned the criticism of the ant-gay law by some Western countries.
He said that there was hope for Nigeria and in the next few years, it would regain its lost glory.
