Community leader hacked to death in Benin

Ed0 - The Chairman of Obagienevbosa Community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, Igie Osayande, has been clubbed to death by thugs, Punch reports.

The victim was reportedly shot along with his brother, Igie Obafuedo, said to have been taken to a hospital for medical attention.

The incident was said to have occurred on Saturday during voting at Ward 9, Units 9, 10 and 11 in the community located off Sapele road.

According to an All Progressives Congress agent, the attackers had stormed the voting centre ordering to be accredited, long after accreditation had ended.

According to the source, efforts by the leaders of the thugs “to get accreditation were rebuffed by the presiding officer, who told him that voting had already commenced.
