Lagos – N4.2 million in compensation was paid out to widows and families of policemen who had died and policemen who were severely injured in the line of duty, Codewit World News reports.
This was part of the welfare packages promised by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar. The cheques were handed out by Mamman Tsafe, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in Zone II. He explained that it was to ensure that the children of policemen that were killed are taking care of and that injured policemen have the necessary funds to seek psychological help.
Widows and families of policemen that were killed in duty were given N500 000 as compensation while those injured received between N100 000 and N200 000.
