Abuja - Nigeria Customs Service alerted members of the public of a fraudulent Facebook account that had been opened claiming to belong to the Comptroller General.
According to a public notice released in Abuja, the fake Facebook account was created using the name of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Dikko Inde Abdullahi.
Fraudsters are using the Facebook account to deceive those seeking employment.
"Through the use of such social media, job seekers are meant to believe that they are chatting to the “Comptroller - General of Customs,” who might even refer them to an Officer in the Public Relations Unit, Human Resources Department or any Department of the Service," read a notice.
The Nigerian Custom Service warned the public to be aware of discussions that eventually led to a request that they pay some money into some private account.
"Such a request is a pure scam."
The organisation added that Nigeria Customs Service does not sell recruitment forms online and does not offer appointment letters via Facebook or any online platform.
