Port Harcourt - The Caretaker Chairman of the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State, Charles Paul Ejekwu slumped and died on Wednesday.
He died in a private hospital after he vomited blood in his house, reports NewsDay.
He was hale and hearty before the incident.
While the cause of the death could not be ascertained, foul play is being suspected as there is a cold war between him and some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the council.
Food poisoning is being suspected as Ejekwu was said to have attended a meeting of chairmen of local council committee, held at the Government House till the early hours of Wednesday.
Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers, who had to cancel his tour of wards in Obio/Akpor Local Government, has ordered an autopsy to ascertain the cause of his death.
