Council spends N10m on projects in Katsina

24 May 2013, 16:00

Katsina- The Caretaker Chairman, Dutsi Local Government Area in Katsina State, Sa'idu Yusuf, said the council had spent more than N10 million on projects in the last two months.

Yusuf said this in Dutsi on Friday while chatting with newsmen.

He said that N4 million was spent in dredging six ponds in the area as part of efforts toward providing water for the people and animals.

''The six dredged ponds would provide more water to the people as well as serve as drinking points to their animals,'' he said.

According to him, the local council has also spent over N5 million in the construction of a fence at Yemel's graveyard in the area.

He said that a wall was similarly constructed at the central mosque in Shargalle village at the cost of N1.5 million.

The caretaker chairman also disclosed that the council had constructed four feeder roads in the area, while three other road projects were ongoing.

Yusuf, who assured of the council’s continued commitment to the provision of development projects, urged the people of the area to protect all facilities provided for them to enhance development.

He also commended the state government for releasing funds to the local government to execute projects.
