Osogbo -The Police in Osogbo on Friday arraigned
a 35-year-old man, Joseph Iremi, before an Osogbo Chief Magistrates'
Court for allegedly kidnapping one Wasiu Oyedele.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspt. Wilson Meriti, told the court that the
accused and others at large conspired and committed the offence of
kidnapping on Sept 18, at Iragbiji in Boripe Local Government Area.
Meriti added that the accused and his accomplices kidnapped Oyedele and demanded ransom from his father to secure his release.
He said the offence committed by the accused contravened sections 516
and 364 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.
The counsel to the accused, Joseph Abidoye, applied for his bail in liberal term.
The Magistrate, Adebayo Lasisi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50 000 and one surety in like sum.
Lasisi ordered that the surety must be a traditional chief in
Iragbiji and must provide three years tax clearance certificates and two
clear passport photographs to the court.
He adjourned the case to Oct. 2 for hearing
