Ilorin - An Ilorin Magistrates' Court on Tuesday remanded three students of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin for cultism.
The accused, kedoyin Jide, 34, Sabit Durosinmi, 18, Ajisafe Oluwafemi, 22, are said to belong to the Buccaneer secret cult.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. David Wodi told the court that the three were arrested following complaint by the institution that rival cult groups were causing mayhem in the polytechnic.
Wodi also said they were arrested with two locally made pistols and three cutlasses.
He added that the three were about to attack one Mathew Olasunkanmi, said to be a member of Eiye secret cult, when they were arrested by the police.
He said that the accused were arraigned on a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, contrary to Sections 97, 28(1) of Firearm Act Cap 146 Law of Federation of Nigeria, 1990.
The prosecutor said that the accused persons had also contravened Section 11(1) of Secret Society in Educational Institution (Prohibition) Law, 2004.
Wodi objected to the bail application of the accused on ground that the offences against them were not ordinarily bailable.
The Magistrate, Wahab Saka, ordered the accused to be remanded in Mondala Prison, Ilorin till March 4, when the case would come up for mention.
