Cyber security in the spotlight in Lagos

04 June 2014, 20:15

Lagos - The office of the National Security Adviser in Lagos is organising a cyber security forum as part of efforts to engage relevant stakeholders in securing the country's cyber space.

All top government security agencies and ministries are expected at the forum scheduled for Lagos from June 18 to 19.

The forum, which will be held at Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island in the city, hopes to harness stakeholders’ input into the country’s National Cybersecurity Policy framework.

In addition to harnessing stakeholders input into the policy framework on Cybersecurity, the forum would be used to build a national consensus on National Cybersecurity Roadmap and facilitate a unified e-security foundation for Digital Nigeria through coordinated efforts.

The first day of the event will focus on Cybersecurity Strategy boot camp for selected industries and professionals, while the second day of the forum will specifically for key decision makers and captains of industry.

Other issues to be addressed at the forum includes the growing and inescapable threats posed to national security by cyberspace.

The organisers of the forum said that the forum would lead to national consensus building towards the acceptance and the adoption of the policy and strategy documents.

Highlights of the forum would include the presentation of the Draft National Policy Framework on Cybersecurity and Overview of National Cybersecurity Strategy.
