Defence Corps promote peace ahead of polls

02 March 2015, 17:04

Abuja - The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has urged the country to embrace peace ahead of the general elections.

Commandant General of the NSDC, Dr Ade Abolurin, said locals should continue to exhibit professionalism in all their conducts, patriotism in all our activities and work to ensure peaceful conduct of the elections.

He was speaking at an event to commemorate the 2015 World Civil Defence Day, an annual event which comes up yearly on March 1.

The theme of the event this year is “Sustainable Peace Building.”

Abolurin thus advised political actors, agitators and co-players in politics to embrace peace towards nation building as the 2015 general elections drew closer.

The polls are slated for the end of the month and April.

Meanwhile, Abolurin advised parents to caution their children to desist from conduct that could lead to the breakdown of law and order during the forthcoming general elections.

“Thuggery, vandalism, malpractices, violence are inimical to the growth of the nation and its against the law of the land, therefore they should shun all these vices and embrace peace for peace to reign, for the law is no respecter of anybody."
