Abuja - The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has warned contractors handling various projects for the Commission to be aware of fraudsters.
Christy Atako,NDDC Acting Managing Director said these were asking for monetary inducement in the pretense of facilitating their payments.
“It has come to my notice that a few unscrupulous individuals are trying to defraud our contractors by asking for a percentage of their due payments before such payments are made,”she gave the warning at a meeting with contractors handling the 75 mega projects approved by the Federal Executive Council.
She advised contractors to always report such matters to the Commission or appropriate agencies for immediate action.
“These are fraudsters and their actions must be called what it is” she said. She assured the contractors of prompt payment of well executed projects.
“It has being my considered commitment, since my appointment, to ensure that projects that meet our standards and specifications are paid promptly, if they meet the mandate given by government for such payment,” Atako said.
She warned that the Commission would not hesitate to take action against any of the contractors that failed to heed the directives it gave.
