Lagos – The Academic Staff Union of Universities have told the media that they are disturbed at the amount of Delta State University lecturers who have been kidnapped, Osun Defender reports.
More than 20 lecturers from the universities have been abducted over the past two years but the abduction of Dr. Mercy Mokobia, a lecturer in the Department of Science Education, from her home on April 9, has the community worried.
Dr. Mokobia’s ransom was paid but the police are still unable to locate her whereabouts. The ASUU believe that the police are not doing what they can, while lecturers are not comfortable working while they feel their safety.
