Delta State appeals for selfless leadership

05 October 2015, 07:55Emeka Okonkwo

Abuja - Delta State House of Assembly Speaker, Ovwigho Igbuya, has pledged the state government’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

He said this would enhance service delivery.

“A good government must provide amenities for the people. A good government must be responsible, transparent and accountable. It must be able to manage resources and ensure efficient and effective functioning of all political and socio-economic structures. We are building a Delta of new opportunities,” he said.

He described Delta as a state with great potential.

Igbuya’s sentiments come on the back of the country celebrating 55 years of independence at the beginning of the month.

He took the opportunity to remind elected and appointed officials to be selfless and put the interests of the people ahead of their own.

“Don’t neglect the people. All hands must be on deck towards moving the country forward,” said Igbuya. – CAJ News
