Delta Trade Fair preps begin

25 September 2013, 19:00

Abuja – The Delta State Government and the private sector are confident this year’s Trade Fair would impact positively on the economy of the state. Organizers confirmed the event will be held from October 21 to 27 in Warri.

A 13-member Local Organising Committee for the exhibition has been inaugurated.

The State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Kingsley Eze-Emu, who inaugurated the committee, said the state government had partnered with the private sector for the trade fair to be “result-oriented.”

He added this was key in realising the “Delta Beyond Oil” initiative of the Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan.

This entails diversifying the economy from over-reliance on oil.

State Commissioner for Information, Chike Ogeah, said the private sector would market the event.

President of the Delta State Association of Chambers of Commerce: Industry Mines and Agriculture, Chief Uju Udeme, applauded the government for organising the trade fair.

Through the event, government and stakeholders aim to showcase agricultural produce as well as innovations made by different groups and individuals in the state.
