Delta establishes centres to stem ebola

06 August 2014, 18:12

Abuja - Delta State has designate seven hospitals as isolation centres for the deadly Ebola, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, said in Asaba.

He said the centres would handle any suspected case as part of the management measures put in place by the government.

Uduaghan said meanwhile, the state had set up a committee to educate citizens on the prevention and management of the Ebola virus.

He called on citizens of the state not to panic as there were no identified cases of the virus in the state.

According to him, the committee comprised the Commissioners of Health, Information and Environment.

It has been inaugurated and would brief Deltans on the measures already taken to ensure the state stayed clear of the virus.

"There is no Ebola virus in Delta State and it will not come to the state. We are doing everything possible to deal with the scourge. We have set up an inter-ministerial committee and measures in place to tackle any outbreak in the state," he said.
