Delta to ensure proper use of development funds

14 May 2014, 12:48

Delta - Delta State government has stepped up efforts to ensure development funds are used for their intended purposes.

According to a senior government official,  this would ensure effective and efficient utilisation of aid from overseas countries.

Speaking during the partnership forum with development partners and stakeholders in Asaba, the State Commissioner for Finance and Economic planning, Kenneth Okpara, said the state was also determined to ensure that development assistance is not only well-coordinated but demand-driven and in alignment with the states development priorities and aspirations.

He said the state had begun a self-evaluation process aimed at increasing accountability in governance with the introduction of the Economic Dashboard, which is a traffic-like method where all the sectors, the ministries, departments and agencies were subjected to rigorous scrutiny and come out periodically with results on their performance.
