Abuja - The Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges is encouraged by the progress it has made in combating terror particularly in the northern parts of the country.
“We succeeded in creating confidence in our first step and went ahead to link up with the key members of the insurgent groups. We achieved commendable level of success," Minister of Special Duties, Alamo Caber Tania Traci, who also serves as the chairman of the committee, said.
He was briefing the National Secretariat of the People’s Democratic Party on the progress of the committee's transformation programme.
The committee is rounding off its reports for submission to President Goodluck Jonathan.
Traci said the National Lottery Commission, under his Ministry, had made available the sum of about N2 billion to the committee.
With the assent of the President, the money would be channelled to intervene in critical areas with direct impact on Nigerians.
He also revealed that a total sum of N100 billion is budgeted yearly for constituency projects of members of the National Assembly.
Turaki dispelled rumours that legislators were either awarding or nominating contractors for the projects.
