Abuja - The private home of Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson caught fire in Yenagoa on Thursday.
The blaze, which is said to have started in one of the room, soon engulfed the two-storey building.
Through the quick intervention of officials from the State Fire Service, however, disaster was averted and the fire was prevented from spreading to other parts of the residence.
Aside from three fire trucks which rushed to the scene, riot police could allegedly also be scene on the ground.
According to a PUNCH report, only government officials and security operative were allowed onto the premises, allegedly for security reasons.
The public was also prevented from photographing the blaze.
Dickson, however, is said to have been away on assignment in Abuja at the time of the incident.
