Dogara mourns Onosode

Abuja - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has commiserated with the government and people of Delta over the demise of an elder statesman, Chief Gamaliel Onosode.

This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Turaki Hassan.

The statement quoted Dogara as saying that Nigeria has lost one of its finest and sound technocrat and administrator.

"The late Onosode was a gentleman who distinguished himself in business and politics as a devout Christian and deacon of the Baptist church.

"He was gentle, humble and calm and a man of peace who made efforts to bring about disciplined approach to public finance when he headed the Public Enterprises body in the second republic,’ he said

The speaker further stated that Onosode played politics without bitterness, adding that his contributions in the defunct All Nigeria People`s Party brought about change in the polity.

"My condolence goes to the Onosode family, the people and government of Delta state over this huge loss.

"May the good Lord grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss," the speaker said.
