Driver on the run after 15 youth killed

05 August 2013, 07:24Augustine Osayande

Abuja - Police are tracking down the driver of a vehicle that killed 15 youth and 10 others injured in the Plateau State on Saturday.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Felicia Aslem, confirmed the driver, who has been identified as Dung Elvis, was on the run following the accident in Barkin Ladi on Saturday.

The driver of the Peugeot 505 station wagon rammed into the group of youths and jumped out of the vehicle and fled through a nearby bush immediately the incident.

Reports suggested most of the youths affected were those providing security to churches in the area since the advent of the Boko Haram menace in the northern parts of the country.

State Commissioner for Health, Dr Fom Dakwak, has ordered the movement of those injured from the general hospital in Barkin Ladi to the state specialists’ hospital in Jos for a better medical attention.
