Taraba - The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested more than 100 people in Taraba State for various drug related offences since the beginning of the year.
More than a tonne of drugs were seized, the agency’s State Commandant, Ishaku Yusuf Kwajafa, said.
Kwajafa said the arrests, which were carried out from the month of January, were aimed at making the state and the country at large free of illicit drugs.
“The total number of suspects arrested is 104, quantity of cannabis sativa seized imitate is 1 031 kilogram, quantity of psychotropic substances seized 55.8 kilogram,” he said.
He added that 52 convictions were made.
According to him, the arrests and seizures would have been higher if the agency was better equipped.
