Duddridge pledges UK commitment to Nigeria against terror

Abuja - The United Kingdom reiterated said it remained fully committed to supporting Nigeria and its neighbours' efforts to counter Boko Haram .

Commonwealth and Africa Minister, James Duddridge, stated this on Wednesday in Abuja at a Ministerial Meeting on Security.

"The UK remains fully committed to supporting Nigeria and its neighbours' efforts to counter Boko Haram," Duddridge said.

He said the meeting focused on strengthening efforts to bring security and stability to the region and prevent incidents like the kidnapping of Chibok schoolgirls.

Duddridge added the security must be a part of a holistic approach to the North East.

He praised Nigeria's commitment to prevent sexual violence in conflict. "I welcome Nigeria's commitment to prevent sexual violence in conflict and in signing the int.protocol to end impunity for such acts."
