ECOWAS set to endorse new roadmap

Abuja - Coordinating Committee of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is engage in a meeting that will culminate in the endorsing of the five-year strategic planning framework to facilitate the achievement of its 2020 vision.

According to information received from the regional bloc’s Head Office in Abuja, the ongoing meeting, which ends on Saturday, will also endorse complementary road map to accompany the plan for the period 2016-2020.

“The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), the ECOWAs Centre for Renewal Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) as well as the ECOWAS Gender Development Centre (EGDC) will also present their five year medium term strategic plans for the period 2016 and 2020 during the meeting,” the regional body said.

The West African Monetary Agency (WAMA) is hosting the ongoing meeting in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

ECOWAS Vice President, Dr Toga Gayewea McIntosh, is expected to attend the meeting along with representatives of the key directorates of the Commission.

They are expected to examine the Terms of Reference for the engagement of a consultant and review the budget for developing an institutional architecture of the 2016-2020 Community Strategic Plan (CSP) and the Community Strategic Framework.

The Vice President is also expected to brief the committee on the status of the ongoing institutional reform.
