EFCC nabs travel agency officials for deceit

01 July 2015, 11:39Okoro Chinedu

Lagos - The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has rounded up two officials of the VIP Express Tourism Limited, a travel agency that is alleged to have swindled hundreds of Nigerians to the tune of N70 million.

The officials, Banabas Magi, Accountant, and Owoseli Samuel, General Manager, are currently under detention at the anti-corruption agency, Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC spokesperson, added.

He said victims of the travel agency had earlier this month petitioned the EFCC alleging VIP Express Tourism Limited had defrauded them claiming to provide tourism services by providing holiday vacation accommodation to them at resorts in some designated countries.

They had claimed that the agency deceived them through their marketers into parting with their money for the promised overseas trips that never materialized.

“The two officials have been offered provisional bail by the EFCC but are yet to meet the terms,” Uwujaren said.
