EFCC urges partnerships in fight against crime

29 September 2015, 08:53Emeka Okonkwo

Abuja - Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Lamorde, has urged law enforcers to keep up with trends criminals continuously devised to evade the law.

"Crimes in the sub-region have not only grown in proportion but in sophistication," he told delegates at the Network of National Anti-Corruption Institutions in West Africa (NACIWA) Anti-Corruption Academy Training Programme in Abuja.

"Criminals now have reaches across national institutions to the point where they can even threaten he existence of some States," he highlighted.

Lamorde thus urged stakeholders and law enforcers in West Africa to maintain partnerships to thwart such criminal deeds in the region.

"Such professional relationships come in handy when bureaucratic bottlenecks and red tapes threaten to derail law enforcement activities across jurisdiction," Lamorde said.
