Ebola: Schools may resume mid-September

Abuja - The Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, said on Wednesday that students in private and public schools in the country may resume from holiday by the middle of this month, Premium Times reports.

Minister of health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu who gave the hint after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting noted that the decision to review the extension of resumption date became necessary following the recommendation of a body of experts set up by government to look at the extension of resumption dates for primary and secondary schools.

He told State House correspondents that FEC directed the minister of education to convene an emergency meeting with all states commissioners of education in order to agree on when schools can resume nationwide.

Chukwu said a total of 18 cases have so far been reported in the country, adding that 14 were diagnosed in Lagos while four were diagnosed in Port Harcourt.
