Ado-Ekiti - The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Wednesday said it had arrested eight suspects in Ado-Ekiti over diversion and adulteration of petroleum products.
This was contained in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti by the Commandant of the Corps in the state, Shem Obafaiye.
He said five of the suspects were arrested for attempting to divert Premium Motor Spirit to another destination while the remaining three were apprehended for adulteration of Alternate Gas Oil.
Obafaiye also said two tankers marked FKJ 487 XH(LAGOS) and LSR 270 XF( LAGOS), both of which were loaded with 33 000 litres of premium motor spirit, were in the command's custody in connection with the crime.
He said another vehicle, FST 656 XF(LAGOS), loaded with 4 200 litres of adulterated AGO was also at the command's premises in connection with the illegal act.
The commandant restated the agency's commitment toward controlling oil-bunkering and other related crimes in the state.
Obafaiye, who said the suspects would be arraigned in court after preliminary investigations, warned petroleum dealers to desist from purchasing products from vandals.
