Delta - Eight awaiting trail inmates of Sapele Prison and another inmate at the Sapele Remand Home have regained their freedom after Chief Judge of Delta State, Justice Zai-Laye Abiodun Smith ordered their release, Vanguard reports.
Justice Smith debunked comments that the visit to the prisons was done out of sentiments to set inmates free.
Inmates released the ones with inadequate information to face trial, lack of diligent prosecution, no case to answer and persons who have no pending charge against them, while others were released based on legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.
