Ekiti FRSC arrests 500 over traffic offences

10 January 2013, 11:13

Ekiti - The FRSC in Ekiti State on Wednesday said it arrested 500 persons for various traffic offences last year.

The Public Education Officer of the commission, Mr  Issac Abioye,  said this while fielding questions from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)  in Ado-Ekiti.

He said most accidents on the nation's highways were caused by human error, adding that more than 600  avoidable traffic offences were recorded within the period.

Abioye appealed to motorists to always obey traffic rules to save lives.

‘’Motorists must always avoid overspeeding, use of worn-out spare parts  while motorcyclists should wear safety helmets,’’ Abioye said.
