Ado-Ekiti - The Ekiti State Government has declared that any farm used to plant Cannabis Sativa otherwise known as Indian hemp or marijuana will be seized, according to Today’s Telegraph.
Governor Kayode Fayemi, of Ekiti made this known at the public destruction of 11 500kg of illegal drugs in Ado-Ekiti by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The governor said that the seizure will prevent land owners from using their lands as Indian hemp farms.
He said that the government has discovered that commercial drivers and motorcyclists are the highest consumers of hemp and this has increased the level of fatalities on the roads.
NDLEA Director General, Femi Ajayi who represented the Chairman/Chief Executive, Ahmadu Giade said that the Agency had destroyed large of the hard drugs in other parts of the country.
