Lagos - National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has threatened to shut down power supply if the federal government fails to pay their entitlements, Premium Times reports.
The workers threatened to shut down the industry should the private investors who bought the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) successor companies go ahead to take over without conclusively sorting out the outstanding labour issues with the workers.
The General Secretary of the Union, Joe Ajuero, who disclosed the decision of the union, said that the federal government is planning to compel staff of the union out their offices across the nation using security personnel.
Nigeria has suffered from massive strikes in recent times with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) also on a strike for the last few months while Nigerian students are losing out on a proper education.
