Enugu -The impasse between Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime and the state house of assembly took a new twist on Monday as fourteen members served the governor an impeachment notice.
The members, led by speaker, Eugene Odoh who reconvened as early as 4am were prevented by security agencies from having entry into the assembly complex.
However after series of argument, the members overpowered the security officials and made way into the chamber where they resolved to begin an impeachment process against Governor Sullivan chime for abuse of office.
The house accused the Governor of illegally obtaining 11 Billion naira loan without due approval from the legislature. They also questioned the rationale behind the loan when the administration was winding down adding that the Governor had met with nine members of the house in a hotel in Enugu to secure their support.
The house later adjourned till tomorrow.
Meanwhile a faction of nine members led by Chime Orji sat by 7am at the complex nullified the 14 lawmakers' resolutions.
