Ex-Gombe State governor's trial moved to July

Lagos - The trial of former Gombe State Governor, Danjuma Goje, and alleged accomplices has been deferred to July.

Goje is appearing before Justice Quadri of the Federal High Court, Gombe on charges bordering on conspiracy and money laundering.

He is accused mismanagement and diversion of over N52 billion state funds following reports of fraudulent transactions during his term.

Among suspicious transactions mentioned in court include the supply of food items to the Government House and supply of books to schools in the state through the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) during the period in question.

Goje was governor of Gombe State from May 2003 to May 2011.

Justice Quadri has adjourned the case to July 2 and 3 for continuation of trial.
