Abuja – The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)
Foundation has announced plans to empower former members of the organisation to
The Chairman of the foundation, Dr Abubakar Abdullahi,
disclosed the foundation would soon host a fund raising dinner to generate
funds which would be used as loans to the deserving former corps members.
Erstwhile members with good business plans who are
desirous of being self employed and future employers would benefit.
The NYSC Foundation chairman also disclosed that the soft
loan to be given to successful former members would be increased to N400 000
from next month.

He spoke in Abuja where he led a delegation to the
Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Rabi Shuaibu
Abdullahi explained that the purpose of the visit was to
re-establish contact with the Ministry.
He appealed for support and partnership adding the
Foundation had the objective of assisting the Federal Government sustain the
noble NYSC scheme.
This, he said, would be done, through improvement in the
quality of lives of this vibrant category of the country's youth.
The NYSC scheme was created in 1973 in a bid to
reconstruct, reconcile and rebuild the country after the Nigerian civil war.
