Benin - Ex-militant and founder of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, has been picked up by the police in Benin Republic, Saharareporters reports.
Dokunbo was arrested on Tuesday at about 1pm around the Lubeleyi roundabout and his whereabouts is yet unknown according to the statement by his lawyer, Festus Keyamo.
Dokunbo, who is the chancellor of the newly opened private university in the Benin Republic, the King Amachree African University was said to be on a visit to the country before his arrest.
His lawyer, Festus Keyamo, alleged that his arrest is a political move to prevent the ex-militant from participating actively in the 2015 elections.
