Kaduna - The Federal Government is to create 3 000 jobs under the Subsidy Re-Investment Programmes (SURE-P) in Kaduna State.
The Chairman, state Implementation Committee of Community Services,
Youth and Women Employment Project (CSYWE), Shehu Giant, said
this during a visit to Gov. Patrick Yakowa, in Kaduna.
Giant decried the high level of unemployment in the country, especially among the youths, which he said, stood at 32 per cent.
"This is worrisome considering the attendant consequences not only in Kaduna State but the country at large," he said.
He assured that under the SURE-P, thousands of youths would be
empowered to be self-reliant and contribute to the socio economic
development of the country.
The chairman said the youths would be engaged in environmental sanitation, security and landscaping, among others.
Giant said the project would be implemented in the 247 wards of the state.
He noted that youths from poor background, vulnerable persons,
including the physically-challenged, those living with HIV and AIDs,
widows and orphans would be the primary targets.
Responding, Yakowa assured the committee of his administration’s commitment to ensure full implementation of the programme.
