FRSC confirms 2 dead, 10 injured in autocrash

Gombe - Two persons were confirmed dead while 10 others sustained various degrees of injuries in an auto crash on the Gombe-Bauchi Road on Sunday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accident, which involved three vehicles  coming from opposite directions, occurred at 3.35 pm.

Some of survivors told NAN at the Specialists Hospital Gombe, that they were coming from a wedding in Zaria when the incident occurred.

A survivor, Malam Samsudeen Mohammed, who lost his mother and uncle in the accident, said he could not give an account of the accident.

He said that they were about 10 in their car.

Another victim, Malam  Abubakar Mahdi, said that he could not say how many cars were involved in the accident, but said that two people died while many sustained injuries.

Mr Kuteb Galadima, the state Sector Commandant, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), confirmed that two passengers died while 10 others were injured.

Galadima said the bodies, male and female, had been deposited at the mortuary of the Specialist Hospital, Gombe.

He attributed the accident to wrong overtaking involving three cars -  a Sharon Bus with registration BAY 12XA, a Volkswagen Golf with registration number AA 627 BBJ and Honda Academy.
