Abuja - The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Kwara Command, has deployed
300 personnel and established ambulance points in the state for Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The ambulance points are located in Jebba, Oloru, Omu-Aran, Offa and Airport Road, IIorin.
The sector commander, Mary Wakawa disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Ilorin.
She said that the personnel had been sent to all the 16 local government
areas of the state to ensure sanity on roads during the Yuletide.
Wakawa said that qualified medical personnel had been posted to all the
ambulance points to give emergency treatment to accident victims.
The commander said that the commission had also established mobile courts to prosecute erring motorists.
Wakawa, who did not disclose the number of automobile crash recorded in
the state from January to December 2013, said that there had, however,
been a drastic reduction in road accidents when compared with 2012.
She advised people of the state to dial 122 and 07022553772 in case of
any emergency in any part of the state during and after the Yuletide.
According to her, the commission has put the necessary machinery in place to ensure road accident-free celebration in Kwara.
Wakawa advised motorists not to engage in excessive speeding or over load their vehicles.
She said the commission would not hesitate to deal with those who disregard traffic law during and after the yuletide.
