Kafanchan - The Kafanchan Unit Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) said it impounded 245 vehicles from January till date for various traffic offences.
The Head of Operations, Mr Dooga Clement, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kafanchan on Thursday that the unit had, within the period, recorded 1, 425 offenders with 1, 476 various offences.
The officer further said the figures showed a significant improvement against 696 vehicles impounded, 1, 472 offenders and 1, 579 offences recorded in 2011.
``With continued cooperation from members of the public, it is possible to have less traffic offences and reduced road crashes,’’ he said.
Clement said during the last mobile court operation, 67 persons were apprehended while 57 were convicted of various traffic violations.
He said the unit was intensifying efforts on public enlightenment campaign, adding that a similar exercise would be observed on Saturday.
``The idea is to preach sanity to all road users so that we would ensure road crashes were reduced, especially during the festive period,’’ he said.
