Abuja - Scores of commuters on the Dutse-Bwari road in the FCT were on Wednesday held up for more than five hours as a truck that fell across the Jigo bridge blocked the way.The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that passengers and motorists tried in vain to remove the truck from the road.Operatives of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) arrived at the scene shortly in response to a distress call. They succeeded in towing the vehicle out of the road, thereby easing vehicular movement. An eye witness, Malam Ibrahim Audu, told NAN that the accident occurred at about 10 a.m.He said the traffic situation could not have worsened if the response came in good time.''Senior staff members of Bwari Area Council passed through here when it happened and I thought they would contact the relevant authorities.''If FRSC had arrived earlier with its crane, the road would have been freed.''He said the driver of the truck who was injured, had been taken to an undisclosed hospital.
