Father accused of selling son for N300 000

Abia - A middle-aged man, George Maduabuchi, from Owerrinta in the Isiala-Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State has been arrested for allegedly selling his 14-month-old son for N300 000, Punch reports.

George, who is a palm tree harvester and father of four was said to have connived with another suspect, Obinna Erondu to carry out the act.

The wife was said to have alerted the police when the baby fell ill and the suspect took him out and did not return with him according to the Commissioner of Police, Joshak Habila, who paraded the suspect along with other suspected criminals.

The suspect, however denied selling his son, saying he only took him to a herbalist when he took ill.
