Yenogoa - An oil spill site within an oil field operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) at Ayambele and Kalaba communities in Yenagoa Local Government of Bayelsa was on Sunday gutted by fire.
The fire sparked off from the spill site is still raging as at Monday, burning off the crude deposits on the land and swamps, reports Premium Times

Monibo Joel Youth President of Ayambele community, said the fire started on Sunday from the oil spill site has spread into Kalaba and Ayambele swamps.
The spill site, which is currently being remediated by SPDC, was polluted by an oil spill from Shell’s Okordia Manifold at Ikarama community in June 2014.
