Five suspected kidnappers killed in Anambra

Anambra - Five suspected kidnappers, were shot dead by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Awkuzu, Anambra State, while 18 others were arrested for various offences, Daily Post reports.

In the gun battle that ensued at Onitsha and Eziowelle in Idemili North Local Government Area between the suspects and men of the state police command, two of the suspects escaped and the Commissioner of Police, Hosea Karma, said his men had been combing the state to arrest them.

Eighteen other suspects, including a 300-Level computer science student of Odumegwu Ojukwu University, were paraded over alleged involve-ment in various offences.

Their offences ranged from robbery, rape, false information, diversion of goods to murder.
