Abuja – Incessant rains have displaced more than 100 people in the Karaworo community in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Structures such as houses have been destroyed following rains that have pummelled the area in recent days, with fears the rains were likely to cause more damage.
Speaking on the level of destruction, Abdullahi Lawal, the lawmaker representing Adavi constituency in Kogi State House of Assembly, appealed to government for assistance to shield victims from further suffering.
Following the floods, the region has been declared a disaster zone after authorities assessed the level of damage.
Momohjimoh Lawal speaker of the state House of Assembly said the Local Government Authorities should compile the list of victims and the extent of damage to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), in order to provide the victims with relief.
