Former Kogi governor Audu's fraud trial defered

Lagos - The trial of former governor of Kogi State, Abubakar Audu, alongside a former Director General of the Directorate of Rural Development in his administration, Alfa Ibn Mustapha has been postponed to January.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting the former governor and his co-accused for offences bordering on criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of public funds to tune of more than N10,96 billion.

On Tuesday, the proceedings failed to take off at the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja due to the non availability of the witnesses. According to EFCC of the witnesses was said to be involved in examination while the second witness was said to have left the services of the bank.

It is alleged the accused between 2000 and 2002 at Abuja committed criminal breach of trust in respect of the said sum which they falsely claimed to be payment made to Aresanmi Technical Industries Limited in respect of the contract allegedly awarded Kogi State Directorate of Rural Development.
