14 October 2015, 07:47

Abuja - The Federal High Court on Tuesday sentenced two internet fraudsters, Igho Agbana and Akarah Anthony, to four years of imprisonment each without an option of fine.

Justice Shittu Abubakar sitting in Warri also ordered the convicts to refund the sum of 12,000 dollars to their victim from Hong Kong.

A statement from Wilson Uwujaren, the spokesman of the EFCC, said that the convicts faced a two-count charge of conspiracy and altering of documents.

"The National Intelligence Agency (NIA) had petitioned the EFCC in June 2013 on behalf of the victim, accusing Agbana and Anthony of engaging in fraudulent activities.

"They conspired and altered a forged Federal Republic of Nigeria Driver’s Licence with the name Prital S. Atwal and used it to open accounts with a bank in Warri to defraud their victim," he said.
