Gang clash claims six lives in Lagos

10 August 2015, 17:31

Lagos - No fewer that six social miscreants popularly called area boys have been killed in deadly clashes among rival gang members at the Ebute- Metta area of Lagos state, reports Naij.

The killings took place within the last few days as the gangs engaged in brutal reprisal killings.

The fight initially started on July 20 when suspected ‘area boys’ allegedly attacked the vigilante members employed by the Mainland Sawmillers Association at the Okobaba sawmill.

The thugs in the process abducted one of the vigilante members, an action that did not go down well with the vigilante group.

The group reported the matter at the Denton Police Station, but the police could not rescue the abducted man.

The vigilante members decided to take the battle to the area boys and rescued their colleague.

In the process, one of the area boys was killed.

Following the fight, the area boys in a show of supremacy stormed  Freeman and Borno streets in the area and stabbed three persons to death to retaliate the killing of their member.
