Government, Czech Republic partner to train youth

12 June 2014, 08:43Augustine Osayande

Abuja - The Minister of Youth Development, Boni Haruna, has expressed the government's readiness to partner with the Czech Republic in empowering youths through vocational education.

This follows a delegation of Nigeria-Czech Trade and Investment Council, led by the Czech Ambassador to Nigeria, Pavel Mikes, paying the minister a courtesy.

According to him, the partnership was in line with efforts of the Federal Government to provide requisite training for the empowerment of the teeming youths in the country.

He said the ministry was interested in vocational training for the youths, especially equipping of the Youth Development Centres in order to give the youths necessary skills to empower them.

The Minister explained that the ministry was interested in this area because of the need to transfer new technical knowledge, given the capacity and experience of the Czech Republic.

Haruna thanked the delegation for offering the ministry the platform for economic empowerment of millions of youths in the country.

He also accepted the invitation of the Ambassador for him to visit Czech Republic so he could have firsthand experience of the training facilities and the progress already made by the Czechs.

The envoy commended the Federal Government for the programmes it was establishing to address youth challenges in the country.

His delegation informed the Minister of its on-going efforts to enhance trade and investment relations between Nigeria and Czech Republic.
