Abuja - The Federal Ministry of Power said that the increased cases of vandalism were effectively responsible for the massive drop in electricity generation in the country, Punch reports.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Godknows Igali, stated this when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Power during the ministry’s budget defence session.

He expressed optimism that electricity generation in the country would hit 6 000 megawatts this year if the growing cases of vandalism were curbed by relevant security agencies.
He lamented the extent to which the incessant blowing of gas pipelines by vandals have affected the supply of power in the country.
