Abuja - Procuring a Nigerian passport will be costlier as the federal government has decided to increase the passport fee by 50% reports Daily Trust.
According to a circular sent to relevant government agencies at home and abroad, the fee for a new passport book for applicant whose ages fall between 18-60 years has increased to N15 000 from N10 000.
Passports for minors, 18 or younger, will now cost N8 750 while applicants above 60 years will pay N8 500.
The fee for those applying for change of data has been increased to N30 000. For females wanting to change their names as a result of marriage/divorce or deceased husband, the fee is now N8 750.
Government has also introduced a 64-page passport book for frequent travelers. The cost for this N20 000.
